We
have inaugurated today the 2nd Kolkata Christmas Festival at Park
Street, which we started since last year. Perhaps no other city in India
has a similar street of festivities dedicated to the Christmas spirit.
This makes Kolkata and Park street festival so unique.
With
Christmas music and lights, beautiful Christmas trees and food from
Kolkata's multicultural mosaic, Christmas is as much a part of our
social fabric as the pujas that are celebrated with such fervour.
Christmas is associated with happiness and joy. It is celebrated with
mirth and gaiety. This fortnight long celebration will culminate with
the New Year 2013. I wish all my brothers and sisters a Merry Christmas.
